Mount Olive Outreach Training

Online training to support 'Her Voice, Her Power, Our Responsibility' in Soweto

As part of our ongoing support for partner organisations, we recently delivered an online training session with the team at Mount Olive Outreach, focused on strengthening delivery of the Think Different: Abuse Prevention & Support course. The session revisited the full structure of the programme, guiding staff through the 24 ready-to-use lessons and how to implement them effectively within their setting. Particular focus was placed on the root causes and risk factors of abusive behaviour, including emotional dysregulation, low self-worth, trauma exposure, and unhealthy belief systems. Rather than simply managing behaviour, the training reinforced how early intervention and understanding “why” behaviours develop is key to preventing harm long term.

We also explored core elements of the course, including the neurology of stress and emotional responses, cycles of abuse, and trauma-informed approaches to supporting young people. Practical tools such as mindfulness, breathwork, meditation, and movement-based techniques were revisited, ensuring staff feel confident using them both personally and within their sessions.

This training will directly support Mount Olive Outreach’s empowering women’s initiative, Her Voice, Her Power, Our Responsibility, where Think Different will be used to help participants build self-worth, emotional resilience, and healthier relationship patterns. We are proud to stand next to them in their commitment to create environments where real change can happen.
